As a multiple passport holder, and multi-lingual individual, I represent what many people of my generation are or will become; a transnational person in a globalizing world. When I moved to the Netherlands at the age of seventeen, I began to question my identity and sense of place. Through travel and photography, I seek what I thought I had lost, and retrace my family’s former homelands and the numerous migrations they undertook.

Diving into this personal history, it became clear that the journeys of my ancestors were forced ones: due to (rising) anti-semitism they were persecuted or expelled because of the fact that they were Jewish. These photographs are of the places that my family and I used to call home as well as where we live today; Utrecht, Curaçao, Sevilla, Morón de La Frontera, Warsaw and Krakow. What is revealed is a growing awareness of how the history of a place seeps through the cracks of time, becoming part of my identity.

A series of imperfections and color shifts, revealing a glimpse of times long gone. They became part of the photograph.
Fifty perceptions telling the stories of the many visitors. The pond and the hill. The birds and the trees. And all the little changes.

The @artistsupportpledge is a brilliant idea by @matthewburrowsstudio where artists sell artwork directly for a maximum of £200 without gallery commission. Once I make €1000 I pledge to buy an artwork to support a fellow artist !

ABOUT ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists around the world have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support, gallery work, exhibitions and sales have disappeared. In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress @matthewburrowsstudio has instigated the #artistsupportpledge The concept is a simple one. Artists post images of their work to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping.) Anyone can then buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales they pledge to buy another artist's work for £200.
